Where to stay,
once you’re there

Some people book a hotel for the view.
We book it for the bathroom.

Illustrated guides to hotel rooms with extraordinary restrooms: clawfoot tubs under skylights, marble you could get lost in, showers with a better view than the balcony. Then we tell you about the bed, the breakfast and the street outside. One city at a time.

Every city is one volume. Each one is a short list of rooms we’d cross town to sleep in, and the bathrooms are why.

The premise

You only see the lobby once. You see the bathroom every morning.

Hotel listings show the bed from three angles and the bathroom from none. We start with the room you’ll spend your first and last ten minutes of every day in, and work outwards from there.

How we review

The house rules

01 Bathroom first A room only makes the list if the bathroom is worth the trip on its own.
02 Then everything else The bed, the light, the noise at 2 am, the breakfast, the street outside.
03 Drawn, not shot Every room is illustrated, so you see the room as it feels, not as it was staged.
